Jars of Zinc Plated Steel Flat Washers.
Metric sizes are: M4 x 9 x 0.75mm, M5 x 10 1.0mm, M6 x 12.5 x 1.2mm, and M10 x 21 x 1.6mm.
Imperial sizes are: 3/16″, 5/16″, 5/32″, 1/8″, and 1/2″.
Jar quantities range from 45 to 100.
Flat, or plain washers, are used to spread the load of a screwed fastening such as a screw or nut. Flat washers may be used when the hole is a larger diameter than the fixing nut and to prevent damage to the surface being fixed. They can also provide some sort of insulation such as electrical. Washers are also important for preventing galvanic corrosion, particularly by insulating steel screws from aluminium surfaces. Zinc plating acts as a sacrificial surface layer that falls victim to corrosive materials before the washer’s material can be harmed.
